Sahasralinga River |
 A sacred place located 3 kms fromi Areca Valley Stay. The Sahasra linga is another place of significance, where sculptures carved from stone are installed in the middle of a flowing river Shalmala. Because these uncountable carvings, the place gets the name "Sahasra Linga" (thousand lingas). Although the river is surrounded by secluded lush green forest, every year on the day of Shivaratri thousands of people visit this place to worship Lord Shiva. When the water level is not high enough you can actually see all those carvings. the place has 1000 or more lingas carved on stones on the bank of river Shalmala.History says all these shiva lingas were built by Sadashivaraya,king of Sirsi (1678-1718) |

Vadiraj Mutt |
 Sonda is small little village in the Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district situated at a distance of around 5 km from Areca Valley Stay. It is mostly known as a pilgrimage center due to the presence of three prominent Mutts: the Swarnavalli Mutt, the Vadiraj Mutt and the Jain Mutt. These attract hundreds of pilgrims mostly throughout the year. The green surroundings, typical to the Malnad area of Sonda and Sirsi add to the serenity of these places of religious importance. |

Marikamba Temple Sirsi |
Sri Marikamba Temple of Sirsi is a famous Devi shrine situated in northern part of the state of Karnataka. The temple is highly regarded by the devotees spread not just all over Karnataka but also in the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Every alternate year millions of devotees from remote parts of the country gather at Sirsi to participate in the famous Shri Marikamba Fair. Darshana of Devi is considered to be extremely auspicious during the time of the fair. It is just 16 km from Areca Valley Stay.
Sri Marikamba Temple houses a huge idol of Devi - about seven feet tall. The temple is said to have been built in the year 1689. It is in fact considered to be the biggest idol and temple dedicated to Marikamba in the state of Karnataka. People of Uttara (northern) Kannada and Dakshina (southern) Kannada districts regard Goddess Marikamba as their chief goddess of worship and a family deity. They believe that Devi dispels evil forces and protect of this town. them from natural calamities. |

Banavasi Madhukeshwara Temple |
 The renowned Madhukeshwara Temple has been the prime attraction of Banavasi. The structure was built in the 4th century by the Kadamba king Mayura Varma and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is known to be an amalgamation of several schools of architecture, which inspired the Chalukyas and the Hoysalas to build temples in Badami, Aihole and Pattadakkal and the rock-cut temples of Belur & Halebid. The temple consists of main deity of Lord Shiva, also known as Madhukeshwara here. The Lingam is in the color of the honey. There is a monolithic Nandi (Bull) Statue inside the premises. The pillars and inner walls are exquisitely carved and is a must-see in this temple. It is 25kms from Areca Valley Stay. |

Unchalli Falls |
 Unchalli Falls is also called Lushington Falls, is a waterfall created by a 381 ft drop in the Aghanashini river. The falls is located midst dense forest and the area is covered with steep hill range. Here the river makes a cavalcade of waterfalls and eventually leaps into a steep valley to form a spectacular, picturesque waterfall. The falls are sometimes called Keppa Joga because of the deafening sound they make. The bottom of the falls can be reached through dense and steep forest, which will be a rare and thrilling experience.It is just 35kms from Areca Valley Stay. |
